Calpe's gastronomy is famous for its typical dishes based on fish from its bays, such as sardines, mackerel, monkfish and octopus. First of all, we recommend the black rice. This rice is made with cuttlefish or pieces of cuttlefish, a bag of ink and essentially fish stock. It can also be prepared by adding saffron, ñora and tomato.

However, the most traditional rice dish in Calpe is Arròs del Senyoret. It has always been told from generation to generation that this rice is so called because the fish and seafood in the dish is already clean and you don't have to get your hands dirty.
