Serra Gelada
Dizzying cliffs, scenic paths, and the sea on one side almost all the time. If you enjoy hiking (for real), here is one of the best landscapes of the Costa Blanca.
There are several ways to explore it, and you decide whether you prefer a gentle walk or a good challenge. If you just want a stroll, you have routes like the Albir Lighthouse or Punta del Cavall: easy, with shade in some sections and viewpoints to stop and admire every now and then. They pass through hidden coves like Metge, Almadrava, or Tío Ximo. Perfect if you're with family or in a relaxed holiday mode.
Now, if you come full of energy, the main route of the Serra Gelada is something else. It starts in Benidorm (Avenida de Madrid), goes up via Cruz, and skirts all the cliffs until reaching the Albir Lighthouse. It’s about 11 kilometers one way, roughly five hours without stops, and that’s if you don’t stop to take photos of Peñón de Ifach or the Island of Benidorm, which can be seen from above. The highest point: Alto del Gobernador, at 440 meters elevation.
At the top, there’s also the 17th-century Torre del Vigía, which seems placed there just for you to rest and gaze into the distance calmly. And that’s what we recommend: go at your own pace, carry water, wear good footwear, and take your time. Because this route is not just walking; it’s watching, breathing, and letting the sea accompany you all along the way.
