Cap d'Or Tower

Cap d'Or Tower

A tower on the edge of the cliff. It had no door, only lookout, rock, and horizon.

Perched atop the Cap d’Or, on the edge of the cliff with the sea at its feet, stands this stone tower. It was built in the 16th century to guard the sea and anticipate pirate attacks. And if you look closely, its design tells it all: no door, no easy access, only a rope from inside to climb up. Not just anyone could enter here.

It measures 11 meters high and has a austere, functional appearance. It is not designed to please, but to withstand. But from the outside, with the light of sunset or the sound of the wind, it has a special beauty.

The path to reach it is part of the charm. You walk along a trail with views, reach the viewpoint, and suddenly understand why it was placed right here. It’s one of those places that can’t be explained, you have to be there.
