Shopping in Altea
Between alleyways and whitewashed facades. Shopping here is discovering things you didn't know you wanted. And sometimes, even talking to the makers themselves.
There is everything, yes. But not everything is the same. The shops we recommend are not designed to sell you the usual stuff, but to take away something with history, with craftsmanship behind it, with soul.
Two streets hold much of the charm: Rey Jaume I Street, more commercial, with boutiques, jewelry stores, perfumeries, and decoration shops. And, above all, San Miguel Street: the most beautiful, the busiest, and still with corners that haven't lost their artisanal touch.
Not all shops preserve that original spirit (there's more than the generic than before), but if you sharpen your eye, you can still find handmade pieces, made here, made with purpose.
Here are some that from Villas Guzmán we say are worth the walk:
- Aromes (Calle San Miguel)
Soaps, candles, botanical cosmetics, and fragrances made with care. Everything natural, everything well selected.
- El desván Antik (Calle Campo Precioso)
Antiques that are no longer made: furniture, decorations, and objects with history.
- La Buena Juanita (Calle San Miguel)
Bohemian fashion made in Spain. Timeless clothing with soul and prices that won’t scare you.
- Victoria de Talhora (Calle San Miguel)
Ethical accessories, necklaces, blankets, and scarves from fair trade and responsible production.
