The best beaches of Moraira

Now that the heat has arrived, we feel like taking a dip in a beautiful beach, right? Today we will talk about the best beaches in Moraira, the place you are looking for: charm, clear waters, and golden sand. It is one of the smaller and most charming provinces of Alicante in Levante; a small and beautiful coastal area belonging to the municipality of Teulada, between the towns of Calpe and Javea, and 75km from Alicante city center.

Moraira has about 14,000 inhabitants, the vast majority of whom are foreigners. Throughout the year, temperatures stay above 18º, with more than 300 days of sunshine annually, making Moraira a perfect holiday destination in both summer and winter. One of the main attractions of the Costa Blanca, without a doubt, are the beaches of Moraira.

Therefore, today we will reveal the best beaches and coves of Moraira.

Beaches of Moraira

Moraira has eight kilometers of coastline, divided into seven beautiful and unique beaches. Three of them are sandy, located closest to the town center, so if you rent a villa in Moraira, you can enjoy incredible views of these beaches. For those who cannot tolerate sand and prefer rocky beaches, Moraira also has four beaches entirely made of stone where you can relax and enjoy the peace and quiet.

El Portet

One of Moraira’s most famous beaches, considered the most picturesque, it features fine golden sand and turquoise waters, awarded with the blue flag. It is 350 meters long, perfect for enjoying what remains of summer.

Besides all this, as one of the best beaches in Moraira, it’s the most used by locals because it has well-equipped facilities, lifeguards, and several restaurants with terraces nearby where you can dine, have a drink, or just enjoy amazing views.

Due to its proximity to the town center, it is one of the busiest beaches on the coast and is considered one of the best sandy beaches along the entire Levante coastline. From this beach, a simple hiking route can be started that leads to the lookout tower at Cap d'Or. Don’t miss this wonderful beach!

L'Ampolla

This is an urban beach, and similar to El Portet, it is very crowded during holiday seasons and also bears the blue flag. It is located at the foot of Teulada-Moraira Castle and has a small stream that flows into the sea with shallow waters, ideal for children.

This beach is fully accessible and has a large parking area for vehicles. Additionally, it is accessible for people with disabilities and offers all kinds of services so everyone can enjoy summer with family and friends.

After a good swim, being the Main beach, it has restaurants and infrastructure for enjoying one of the best beaches in Moraira.

Les Platgetes

It consists of two small coves, one sandy and the other rocky. These beaches, like the previous ones, are recognized with the blue flag and have 200 meters of length. One of their main attractions is the beautiful view of the coast.

On the other hand, the rocky part forms small natural pools where you can bathe in shallow waters. Being somewhat away from the town, it is less crowded, making it the ideal place for a more peaceful experience.

It has nearby parking and excellent places to eat. It is the most used by locals, which is why it is one of the best beaches in Moraira.

Cala Llebeig

This is the most difficult to access, as it can only be reached by sea or via a trail with some hazardous sections. Still, it’s totally worth visiting because it’s a treat for all the senses. Due to its hard-to-reach location, it is one of the less crowded beaches, ideal for spending a peaceful day immersed in nature.

At the entrance of this incredible cove, you will find the ancient remains of a coast guard lookout post, which was used to control smuggling. Old fishermen’s houses where they used to seek refuge in the past also remain here.

Thanks to its natural surroundings, this cove has been declared a micro flora reserve, making it the perfect place to spend a day surrounded by the beauty of one of Moraira’s most natural spaces.

Cala Cap Blanc

The Cala Cap Blanc, also known as Punta Estrella, is one of the least visited due to its location, situated in a somewhat rugged area.

It’s a perfect cove for practicing water sports such as fishing, diving, or snorkeling because of the depth of its waters. The system of cliffs where this cove is located, is part of the European Natural 2000 Network of Sites of Community Interest.

The way to reach it starts from the parking lot at the top, from where you can access stairs that descend to one of Moraira’s best beaches, with pristine underwater flora.

Cala Portixol

Its clear, crystalline waters make this one of the favorite coves for fishing and water sports like diving.  It is usually frequented by locals because it is somewhat hidden. Located in front of the Moraira Yacht Club’s entrance, due to its low occupation, it’s an ideal spot for birdwatching, especially for species like the blue-footed cormorant or the great cormorant.
