That’s why, in this post, we’ve set out to introduce you to the best coves in Calpe. So, if you visit us, you already know which ones you must discover!

From Calpe towards Benissa

We start with the coves that go from Calpe towards Benissa, once we’ve passed the Playa de la Fossa.

Cala Calalga

Cala Calalga is one of the closest to the municipality of Calpe. In fact, you can find it at the end of the promenade of Playa de la Fossa. The easiest way to access it is via a ramp that takes us directly from the pedestrian walkway to the sands. The ease of access makes it one of the best coves in Calpe for families. But, if you want a bit more adventure, look for some stairs before reaching the ramp. They will lead you to a somewhat more secluded area, covered with algae, with a natural stone roof.

The Calaga is a cove with very calm waters and fine sand, perfect for enjoying a peaceful swim! Moreover, it has services typical of a beach such as lifeguards and foot baths.

If you look to the right, you'll see that along the upper part of the cove, a small promenade emerges. It is the Benissa Ecological Walk. We recommend dedicating some time of your beach day to explore it. The Walk guides you along the coastline, skirting cliffs and vegetation to amaze you with some of the best coves in Calpe. In fact, we will continue talking about many of them.

Cala del Mallorquí

This is the next cove found if, leaving Cala Calalga, you follow the ecological trail.

Cala del Mallorquí is located just before reaching Cala de les Bassetes, which we will talk about shortly. It's a very small cove, just 30 meters long, with rocks and gravel, but almost untouched, with incredible transparent waters, perfect for diving!

Cala de les Bassetes

This is a very tranquil cove located between Benissa and Cape. It is a gravel cove and on it sits the Les Bassetes Yacht Club, making it the perfect place to practice water sports like, for example, Paddle Surf.

Cala de les Bassetes has posidonia beds, which, combined with the tranquility of its transparent waters, make it great for scuba diving and snorkeling. Also, for children to explore marine life.

Desde la Fossa hacia Puerto Blanco

With all these coves uncovered, let’s see what we can find from Playa de la Fossa to Puerto Blanco.

Cala del Penyal

We find Cala del Penyal right below the Peñón de Ifach, at its base. Therefore, nature is undoubtedly the main protagonist. If this alone could make it one of the best coves in Calpe, we must add that its waters are also ideal for diving, enjoying a peaceful bath, fishing, and anchoring if you have a recreational boat.

Cala del Penyal is a naturist beach, and its easiest access is what might seem at first. It can be reached via a small trail found on the north face of the Peñón. Taking advantage of its location, we recommend visiting the Peñón de Ifach Natural Park, an essential visit to discover the fauna and flora, with species unique to Calpe.

Cala el Racó

Just on the other side of the Peñón, we find Cala el Racó. The cove is located opposite Calpe harbor and right at the start of the Prince of Asturias Ecological Walk, which allows us to skirt the Peñón along its lower side, enjoying impressive sea views and, above all, its height! Along the walk, you will also find informative panels and signs about the species and vegetation in Calpe and on the Peñón. Perfect for a family stroll!

It is an underwater trail you can explore while diving. The trail has signaled panels on buoys and signs with information about the species and animals you can observe during your dive.

Cala del Morelló

We find this cove along the Paseo Marítimo de la Infanta Elena. The cove is almost at the foot of the promenade, making it an urban cove that’s very easy to access. Additionally, this cove has a lot of unique features and historical curiosities that make it special. To start, it takes its name from Molí del Morello, an 19th-century mill. Nearby is the site of Les Banys de la Reina. It consists of structures still visible today, which in Roman times were a fish farm and baths. In fact, you can take a historical bath! The six basins that once housed the fish farm still remain, and you can swim in them. Therefore, it scores many points to become one of the best coves in Calpe.

Cala la Manzanera

This cove, located next to the buildings designed by the Ricardo Bofill architect, is ideal for diving and snorkeling as its rocky seabed hosts an excellent ecosystem. Plus, it’s in a unique environment. Not only because of the sheltered shape of its walls but also for the views of these colorful, geometric buildings that resemble a wall. Due to its uniqueness and originality, they were some of the main architectural models to follow during the 70s.

Cala Puerto Blanco

Near the Puerto Deportivo of Puerto Blanco, there is a small cove of just 100 meters, but with stunning views of the Peñón de Ifach and Calpe.

It’s a fine sand cove with rocky areas and all necessary services for a comfortable beach day: facilities, foot baths, lifeguard, walkways… In summer, small concerts are held at night, and a beach bar is set up, perfect for enjoying the swim even more or watching the sunset over the Peñón.

This is a beach surrounded by coarse sand, located in the northern area of Puerto Blanco. It’s perfect for a relaxing day thanks to its calm waters, ideal for practicing various dives from its diving center. Also, if you visit the port where it is located, you can enjoy different nautical activities. During summer nights, you'll also have the chance to enjoy its beach bar service or attend a concert.

This is a rocky, pebble beach, with few people and very quiet. Without a doubt, it preserves the essence of the natural and the still untouched by human hands—a virtually virgin beach!

Cala Gasparet

Although it’s one of the coves in Calpe farthest from the town, we couldn’t exclude it due to its spectacular location. Cala Gasparet is located south of Calpe, right below Morro de Toix.

We guarantee that it is a tranquil, non-crowded cove, and the only way to reach it is by sea. It’s only about 40 meters long, perfect for diving and fishing.
