What water sports can you do on the beach?

We recommend 10 beach sports so you can enjoy alone or with company:

  • Paddle Surf: This pastime became popular a couple of years ago, and although it looks like a simple sport, it requires balance and strength to get up on the board and paddle without falling into the water.
  • Flyboard: It's a new beach sport where you stand on a board connected to a jet engine on a boat or jet ski, which propels you upward. Although it seems complicated, after several attempts, you can maintain your balance without falling.
  • Kayak: It’s a type of canoe with which you must apply force with a paddle to propel yourself forward. The fun part of this water sport is that you can do it alone or with others, as there are single kayaks and three-seater kayaks. For the more competitive, you can play kayak polo with a group of friends, a sport that involves hitting a ball into the goal with your paddle.
  • Snorkeling: This activity is suitable for all ages, as it’s simple and doesn’t require much effort. This beach sport doesn’t need extensive equipment—just fins, goggles, and a snorkel. If you're interested in observing underwater from the surface without fully submerging, this is the ideal water sport for you. We recommend visiting the calas of Calpe for snorkeling.
  • Scuba Diving: On the other hand, if you want to dive and swim below the surface while breathing through an oxygen tank, we recommend practicing this sport. It’s a bit more difficult than snorkeling because it requires more control over breathing. However, it’s not considered a risky activity.
  • Waterskiing: This involves someone standing on a board or skis, propelled just above the water by a moving boat or jet ski. Strength and balance are needed to avoid falling into the water.
  • Windsurf: This beach sport is ideal when it’s windy. It involves standing on a board with an attached sail and using the wind’s power to move across the water. A close relative of this sport is Kitesurf, which is more complex because instead of a sail, you use a kite to pull yourself.
  • Parasailing: This is an aquatic activity where one or more people get on a parachute and are pulled by a boat. It’s a very fun beach sport with incredible views, and the best part is that you can do it with family or friends.
  • Surfing: The typical board sport couldn't be missing from this section. It’s a timeless activity suitable for all ages, and despite many falls, you'll always want to try again to feel the satisfaction of surfing, even if it’s just a small wave.
  • Jet Skis: If you love speed and adrenaline, this sport is perfect for you and your loved ones. It involves riding a jet ski and reaching high speeds, making you feel like you’re flying.
