Tourism in Benissa

Doing tourism in Benissa is always a good plan. It doesn't matter the season you choose, as the town offers more than 300 days of sunshine each year. Of course, the warmest months are the best for enjoying activities related to the sea. At other times, you can stroll through its streets with a distinctly medieval style or take advantage of some of its hiking routes. From Villas Guzmán, experts in vacation rentals on the Costa Blanca, we show you everything you can do on your next vacation in the area.

How can you enjoy tourism in Benissa?

There are many options to enjoy tourism in Benissa. Although it may not be as well known as other towns, the truth is that it has nothing to envy from other locations. Let's start by reviewing some of its beaches:

  • Les Bassetes. The bay of Les Bassetes is located south of this municipality and borders Benissa and Calpe. From here, you can access the Ecological Walk, which you will learn more about later. It is a beach that has a small flora reserve and you will love swimming in its calm waters.
  • Playa La Fustera. It is one of the best beaches on the Costa Blanca and enjoys several environmental awards. Unlike others, it has fine sand and is perfect for spending a day with family.
  • Cala Pinets. In this case, the cove is made of sand and rocks. It allows access to an area known as La Mar Morta, which is a kind of shallow tongue of sea. Its calm waters and almost no waves make it suitable for the whole family to swim, including children.

  • Cala la Llobella. Reaching this pebble beach is not easy, and it is precisely this detail that makes it a less crowded place than others. It is ideal for scuba diving or snorkeling because its waters are calm and its seabed transparent. You will be surprised by the vegetation surrounding this cove.
  • Cala Baladrar. Undoubtedly one of the best coves, it is surrounded by pines. It is a great area for a swim in the sea, as it is protected from the wind, the water is clear, and it is not very deep.
  • Platgeta de l’Advocat. It has a sandy beach for family fun. It is also suitable for practicing underwater sports and has a pier and a small square for strolling after leaving the water. Not to mention that it ends in a nearly 50-meter-high cliff called El Cantalar.

What other ways can you enjoy tourism in Benissa?

As we already mentioned, Benissa is not just beaches, coves, and the sea; there are also other options to enjoy your visit to the town. Here are some more ideas:

  • Visit the Old Town of Benissa. Its Old Town has nothing to envy other parts of the Costa Blanca and shares a lot in common, as it features that distinctive medieval style characteristic of many Alicante towns. It has many points of interest, but we recommend not missing the Porta Square, which hosts an 18th-century building converted into the town hall. You should also visit the Church of San Pedro, which was once a fortress, or the Old Church Square, which retains part of the original structure and currently has a park.
  • Walk along the Ecological Walk of Benissa. Remember that we've already talked about this walk? Now we recommend that you cover its four kilometers while enjoying truly spectacular views of part of Benissa’s coastline.
  • Reach the Sierra de Bèrnia. It is a mountain over 1,100 meters tall with some well-known routes in the area. One of them is the Forat de Bèrnia, a tunnel carved into the rock that allows you to pass from one side of this mountain range to the other. Don’t forget to see the Bèrnia Fortress, a 16th-century fortification designated as a Cultural Heritage site.
  • Don't miss the Church of La Purísima Xiqueta. Returning to the interior of the Alicante municipality, discover this church also called the Cathedral of the Marina. Besides its Neo-Gothic style and design, it stands out because inside it houses an image of La Purísima Xiqueta, painted by Juan de Juanes on a tablet, which is carried in procession during the patron saint festivals.

  • Enjoy its cuisine. The cuisine of Benissa is as rich as that of the rest of the region. There are many dishes you can try, but don’t miss the most typical one, Putxero de polp. It contains octopus, rice, chickpeas, sweet potato, and other ingredients. You will love it.

Surely, you have no more doubts: doing tourism in Benissa is always a great idea.
