Would you like to discover the 5 most beautiful villages in Alicante? If it’s going to be your next destination, you're surely eager to explore and see charming places. That's why, in the following lines, we become the guide you need to enjoy your holidays on the Costa Blanca even more.

What are the 5 most beautiful villages in Alicante?

Take note not only of the 5 most beautiful villages in Alicante, but also of all the things you can see in them.

1. Guadalest

This village is located between the Sierra de Xortà and Serrella, the Sierra de Aitana, and the Sierra de Bernia. It is perfect for a family visit and has a wide cultural offer. You will be surprised by its medieval atmosphere and the charm of its streets.

The first thing that will catch your attention is the Castillo de San José or Castell de Guadalest, as it is situated on a large rock in the highest part of this town. Unfortunately, two earthquakes have turned part of the building into ruins. Still, it’s worth a visit. Take the opportunity to see the Alcozaba, a watchtower that has been restored and is located next to this castle.

You will also be surprised by the Church of Nuestra Señora de la Asunción, which is right at the entrance of the town. Additionally, Guadalest has several museums, all very interesting, and quite a few artisan shops. Don’t leave without visiting the Guadalest Reservoir, and if you can, do the route around the reservoir, as it’s not too challenging and you will love it.

2. Teulada-Moraira

It is a municipality belonging to Marina Alta, formed by two urban areas: an inland area, Teulada, and a coastal area, Moraira. The latter belongs to the former, and both have the same town hall.

In Teulada, we invite you to visit the Ermita de la Font Sant, which dates back to the 19th century. It was built as a tribute to Saint Vincent Ferrer, who, it seems, when visiting his sister in the area, caused water to spring forth in this place to give drink to the people.

The Iglesia de Santa Catalina also warrants a visit. Built between the 17th and 18th centuries, it served a dual purpose, as it was also a fortress to protect the villagers from possible Berber pirate invasions.

In Moraira, you cannot miss its Castle and its Watchtower. They are located at the top of the town and offer views of the Ifach Rock in Calpe. They were also built to protect the town from pirates.

3. Altea

This town is not only one of the most well-known in Alicante but also one of the prettiest. We recommend visiting during the week, as it tends to be very crowded. You can’t miss strolling through the Old Town of Altea, with its cobbled streets, houses with blue tiles, and many artisan shops.

At the highest point of Altea, you will find the Iglesia de la Señora del Consuelo, and next to it is the Mirador, which offers truly incredible views. Before leaving this area, we invite you to enjoy a coffee at the Plaza del Ayuntamiento.

The Paseo Marítimo and the Port also deserve a visit. Moreover, it’s the perfect place to eat, as there are many restaurants specializing in Mediterranean cuisine where you can enjoy a delicious paella, for example.

By the way, near Altea Hills, on the way to Calpe, you can see the spectacular Orthodox Church. If you have the opportunity, don’t miss visiting it.

4. Denia

Denia is another town that successfully combines culture and beach. The Castle of Denia, perched on a rock, offers the best views of the city. It was built in the 11th century under Arab rule, but you can see elements incorporated from both the Renaissance and the 11th century. Besides its architectural interest, the castle hosts some cultural events.

The Historic Center is also worth a visit, as it combines the new and the old; you can see fishermen's houses alongside modern buildings. There are several museums in the town, but one you shouldn’t miss is the Museum of Toys.

If you decide to spend the day at the beach, you will enjoy its crystal-clear waters and can practice some water sports, such as snorkeling, diving, or windsurfing.

5. Isla de Tabarca

Tabarca is the only inhabited island in the Valencian Community. It features a truly paradisiacal landscape and is almost a must-visit if you're in the area. Its beaches are spectacular, and many find them similar to those of Formentera. Its cuisine is delicious, and you can’t leave the island without trying its tasty caldero tabarquino, among other dishes.

The Puertas de San Rafael, San Miguel, and San Gabriel are worth exploring, as well as the Iglesias de San Pedro y San Pablo. Visit the Faro and end your visit walking through its old town.
