Moors and Christians in Moraira

Come and enjoy the Moros y Cristianos festival in Moraira from June 7th to 16th in a privileged setting. For this deeply rooted celebration in the municipality, a broad program of festivities has been prepared, including musical concerts, musket fire displays, Moorish conquest, Christian reconquest, and a gala parade.

Event Program

The festivities commence on Friday, June 7th, with the inauguration of the Andalusian Medieval Market. On Sunday at 6:00 PM, the Great International Music Festival featuring Jazz, Folk, Rock, and Country will take place.

On Friday the 14th, there will be parades, musket fire displays on the Castillo promenade, followed by a flower offering at 7:30 PM, and at 11:00 PM, a spectacular Moorish conquest at l’Ampolla beach and the conquest of Moraira Castle. On Saturday, there will be a mass in honor of Saint Chrysostom at the Moraira Parish Church, and at 8:00 PM, the Christian Reconquest.

On Sunday, June 16th, to conclude the festivities, there will be musket fire displays and at 7:00 PM, the Band Parade from the Castle to the “El Fortí” building. The grand gala parade of the Christian factions will start around 8:00 PM, featuring the filá Huestes del Cid, Caballeros del Rey Don Jaime, Muladíes, Conquistadoras, and the Christian Captain.

Immediately after, the Moorish faction Almoraima, Marsa Mudhayra, Bashira, Al-Mhadrabba, Almorach, and the filá Califas will parade. As a grand finale, a magnificent fireworks display will take place.
