Beaches and coves of Benissa, you won't be able to resist them!
There is a small municipality in the Costa Blanca located northeast of Alicante, in the well-known region of the Marina Alta, which has a unique beauty. In addition to offering visitors a charming historic town center, spectacular sea views, and rich, varied cuisine, it also boasts some of the most breathtaking coves in the Mediterranean.
It is Benissa, a town with 4 kilometers of coast and some of the most beautiful spots along the Spanish shoreline, which we will tell you about below.
Benissa, a beach and relaxation destination
The Costa Blanca is dotted with small coastal and inland villages, all with fascinating histories and natural beauty. Choosing Benissa beach as your destination is a great choice because within its modest four kilometers, it hosts some of the cleanest and clearest waters coves in Alicante. Moreover, most are surrounded by high cliffs, stunning rock formations, and abundant vegetation. We will tell you about the must-see spots if you spend a few vacation days in this area.
1. Cala Advocat
The cala Advocat or Platgeta de l’Advocat is an ideal destination for enjoying time with a partner or family. It is a small cove with a concrete pier that has a ladder leading into the sea, giving it the appearance of a natural swimming pool. The beach is also protected by a nearly 50-meter-high cliff, El Cantalar, which extends into the sea, making the environment even more impressive.
Cala Advocat is one of Benissa’s coves with the most services, including a beach bar, foot washing area, toilets, parking, and the possibility to practice sailing or scuba diving.
2. Cala Baladrar
This cove offers visitors great beauty and the chance to combine a beach day with underwater sports thanks to its wide variety of marine species, both plant and animal. It is divided into two sections, Baladrar and La Goleta, both with pebble beaches. It is also perfect for sailing, windsurfing, and kayaking. Additionally, it features a lively beach bar with music at all hours, making it even more welcoming and fun.
3. Cala Fustera
The most well-known and frequented of Benissa’s coves is Fustera. It has received several awards for water quality, surroundings, and marine diversity. From here, you can access the “Cova de la Fustera”, which offers a perfect setting to enjoy views of the Mediterranean Sea and the nearby Peñón de Ifach.
Cala Fustera offers many services for visitors such as foot washing, toilets, and play areas for children. It is also adapted for people with reduced mobility, who can access easily and have at their disposal special bath crutches or amphibious chairs. It is easily reached by road and has a nearby parking lot that can even accommodate buses.

4. Cala Pinets
It is one of the most striking coves on the entire Costa Blanca. It resembles a small paradise in the Mediterranean. It has a sandy and gravel beach, which contrasts with the turquoise blue of its waters. You can arrive by car or on foot from Playa la Fustera.
Near this cove are Mar Muerta and Rocas Negras, rocky formations that create a shallow natural pool, perfect for children. Additionally, you will enjoy seeing the curious effect of some rocky slabs that extend into the sea and are in ochre and reddish tones.
Although it does not have additional services, it is a perfect place to practice marine sports such as sailing, kayaking, or diving. Divers will especially enjoy the marine fauna and flora nearby, including sea tomatoes, a type of very bright red anemone, and extensive fields of Posidonia seaweed.

5. Cala de la Llobella
Of all the coves we have mentioned, this one is the least frequented. The vegetation almost reaches the shoreline, formed by rocky slabs and boulders. If you want to be in a discreet place, this is perfect. However, it lacks facilities, except perhaps for some trash bins. Also, note that dogs are not allowed since 2019, which is important to keep in mind if you have a pet.
