The best beaches of Altea
The reason Altea often draws attention is due to its wide variety and number of beaches; we will have options for all tastes — tranquil beaches with crystal-clear waters, finer sand, some with more or fewer services, paradisiacal settings. Most importantly, there will be plenty to choose from. For this reason, we will now explore the best beaches that Altea can offer so we can discover which one best suits our preferences and needs.
Playa de la Escollera

We could say we are looking at Altea's crown jewel. It is the most central beach you will find during your visit, with a wide variety of restaurants nearby and virtually all the essential services you may need, as it is located in the town center. It is the beach that has served as a replacement for the old pond with ducks, which until a few years ago separated and protected the homes on the promenade. Much livelier than the others, it offers daily activities for the little ones and rides on jet skis and boats.
Playa del Albir

This beach belongs to the municipality of L'Albir, just a stone's throw from Altea, so you can visit it effortlessly. It offers top services such as parking and some restaurants with incredible views of the beach and the sea. Nearby, you can also visit some well-known beaches of the area such as playa de Cap Blanch, which is quite similar to Albir. It is undoubtedly a calm beach, ideal for relaxing, sunbathing, and spending a day enjoying some of the offered water sports, such as kayaking and surfing.
Playa de Cap Negret

If you prefer beaches with fine gravel instead of sand, this will be your best option. One of its main charms is that it is a semi-urban beach, and along with La Escollera, it is one of the beaches more centered in Altea. With your hammock, you can enjoy a perfect day under the sun on a quite tranquil and paradisiacal beach, where you can relax listening to the sound of the waves crashing against the shore.
Playa de l'Espigo

Finally, we couldn't end without mentioning one of Altea's newest beaches. At la playa de l'Espigo, the Algar River flows into the sea. It is a beach over 700 meters long, perfect for walks while enjoying calm waters, and it even offers the chance to see some fish or marine fauna, as they are quite common. Being relatively new, it tends to be quite busy with visitors; however, thanks to its large size, there will be no stress during our stay. It has an easy access entrance and all the services you can expect, making it an ideal beach to enjoy the best restaurants, activities, and beach bars.
