Old Town of Moraira

If there is one thing that characterises the Old Town of Moraira it is its Mediterranean essence and its traditional fishing atmosphere. Even today these values are still maintained on the coast. This is thanks to its inhabitants who are in charge of taking care of every corner of this paradise that we love so much.

The most characteristic postcards are drawn by the white façades of the houses that are on the seafront. They are grouped together and overlap, which gives the area a majesty and a personality that is unequalled on the Mediterranean coast. These houses were originally houses for the fishermen who made their daily life from the port of Moraira. This carefully selected location meant that they did not have to travel long distances from their homes to work. Moreover, these houses and foundations are what gave rise to what we know today as Moraira.

Walking through the Old Town of Moraira means getting lost in a network of streets and low houses. It has stone streets and you are constantly accompanied by the façades that are so characteristic of the municipality.

If you want an alternative view, just unwind on one of its charming terraces and visit some of the many shops that line the Old Town. A gentle stroll through its quaint streets and lined with small boutiques selling exotic and sustainable clothing, as well as souvenir shops and the best places for a typical local drink - we love the homemade ice creams!

Among the obligatory stops in the Old Town, the first one is undoubtedly its small church. From there, you can go to the Plaza de la Sorte and find the 18th century castle. This castle is an ideal place to enjoy fantastic views of the Peñón de Ifach and the beach of La Ampolla.

In the part closest to the harbour, you will find the famous Lonja (fish market). This is the place to go if you want to find fresh fish. Moreover, strolling around the port means enjoying the impressive boats.
